The Office of the President is pleased to announce that Andrea Coard has joined Northeast Ohio Medical University as an administrative specialist, effective Oct. 12, 2020. In this role, she will be providing executive level support to the president as well as four members of senior management including the chief of staff and secretary to the Board of Trustees; vice president for government and external affairs; vice president for human resources and diversity; and the vice president for operations and finance. This role was previously held by Ann Marie Fenske.
In 2016, Andrea and her family relocated to Ohio from Northern Ireland. Before joining NEOMED, Andrea previously held several positions at The University of Akron including most recently human resources administrator. In addition, Andrea worked as the CHIC business support assistant at the Connected Health Innovation Center (CHIC) at Ulster University in Northern Ireland. This research center focused on health technologies. In this position she managed calendars and schedules; oversaw communications and relationships with internal and external stakeholders; coordinated logistics for meetings, conferences and international events; and as well as monitored the center’s budget.
Andrea received multiple certifications from Ulster University including Professionalism in Administrative, Clerical and Secretarial Support (PACSS) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) – Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills – Professional Working Skills. She is currently working on her Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Supervision from The University of Akron.
We are also excited to share that Samantha Bliss has joined Northeast Ohio Medical University as an administrative specialist, effective Oct. 14, 2020. In this role, Samantha will work closely with Sara Briechle, senior process engineer, and assist with process improvement initiatives across the University. In addition, Samantha will also collaborate with the Division of Advancement to maximize the president’s fundraising efforts. This position is the result of an administrative reorganization within the President’s Office following the internal transfer of Lesley Tabler, process engineer, to the College of Medicine.
Prior to joining NEOMED, Samantha served as the alumni relations coordinator in the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering. She was involved with many aspects of the college’s advancement efforts and was responsible for creating and executing the alumni engagement strategy which included event planning, annual fund efforts and stewardship. She has strong project management skills and has extensive experience in team development as well as relationship building.
Samantha received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
