Writing Yourself Through the Pandemic

At the recent William Carlos Williams Poetry Competition Awards event, held remotely on April 17, guest speaker Arthur Ginsberg, M.D., had a suggestion for the first-year College of Medicine students attending: Consider using poetry and writing in general as a form of self-care.

After the event, Rachel Bracken, Ph.D., who teaches Human Values in Medicine, had one more suggestion, specific to this moment in history. Dr. Bracken describes a tool from the Pandemic Project (based at the University of Texas at Austin) that’s designed to help people get started writing as a way to process the pandemic.
