Letter to the Editor
To the lovely editors of the Pulse,
We would like to begin with an acknowledgement of the impeccable officiating of NEOMED’s Brian Butler, and the camaraderie and sportsmanship of the NEOMED student community.
With formalities out of the way, we would like, as Captain and assistant Captain, to submit a few corrections to the initial summation of kickball events.
- The captainship contest between the two captains-to-be was fair. With the acknowledgement of the illustrious nature of this role, Liz willingly concedes the title of captain to Perry for this year.
- The first at-bat was Perry, who did in fact get on base (finishing the game with a 100% on-base percentage).
- In the words of the great Gautam Gambhir, “I am a great believer that a captain is as good as his team” (Perry).
We would also like to thank Victoria Carpenter for her organizational leadership in preparation for this event. We also believe Iris Mirelez deserves a shout out for her impeccable sportsmanship and athletic ability that helped to carry the team. And, of course, Dr. Corrie Stofcho, deserves recognition for both the phenomenal cartwheel into first base as well as the dedication to showing girls do it best with the tutu she sported for the game (you are my inspiration-Liz). Finally, we would like to thank Julia for capturing moments from the event and providing some professional kickball experience.
Lukewarm regards,
Captain Perry Alexandrides & Asst. Captain Elizabeth Backus
