Watch the August University Update on YouTube

President John Langell shared news from around the organization and took questions during a University Update on Aug. 26. If you missed it, the video is now available on NEOMED's YouTube channel

Among the highlights:

  • NEOMED was ranked as the #23 most diverse medical school according to U.S. News and World Report.
  • Since the last University Update, NEOMED has been notified of $4,598,312 in grant awards.
  • Saira Ismail, M.D. (’94) was named medical director for the newly renamed NEOMED Free Clinic
  • The Bitonte College of Dentistry has received initial accreditation and has begun accepting applications.
  • NEOMED is now a proud partner of the Cleveland Browns football team (see article in today’s Pulse). More information will be shared over the coming weeks.

Mary Taylor, M.Tax., CPA, senior vice president of operations and finance, shared a budget update and noted that the University is seeking proposals for health and dental insurance, as rates on current plans are expected to rise significantly. Taylor reviewed ongoing and future space improvements, including a renovated quiet study space with more space for small groups; a veterans’ lounge; a game room; the MEDIC lab and other improvements. Expect to see branded wall graphics around campus in the coming months.

Following the update, Dr. Langell welcomed questions from the live and Zoom audiences on a range of topics from the faculty empowerment plan to curriculum development for the dental school to questions about the budget.
