Important COM Curriculum Initiative Updates

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

The events of our new Covid-19 world have led to drastic changes for all of us over the past few weeks, and I want to thank you for all of the hard work each of you is doing and for your patience as we work through a time of “new normal.”

I also want to reach out to you about the M1 and M2 CURRICULUM CHANGE INITIATIVE that continues to move forward in the College of Medicine (COM). Updates on the work being done can be found on our website at neomed.edu/medicine/curriculumchange.  The progress page will be updated weekly, as much work is being done and at a very rapid pace in order for the new curriculum to commence in academic year 2020-2021. In addition to progress updates, you can also find “Essential Information You Need to Know” about the curriculum change attached to this email, which is a resource for all things curriculum transformation. This resource will be updated on the website moving forward.

In order to offer the opportunity for all students and faculty to engage in this process, we will be meeting with the stakeholder groups on a regular basis including:  Student Impact Committee, Student Curriculum Council, each medicine class, and Faculty Forum. In addition, we will host virtual “open houses” to provide an open forum for all campus constituents. The first open house is scheduled for April 9, 3-4 p.m. A Zoom link will be sent out in advance of the meeting.

Should you have any questions or feedback, please communicate with us via our new COM Communications email, medcom@neomed.edu.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the College of Medicine Team, especially during these changing and uncertain times. Be well and stay safe!

Warmly,

Elisabeth H. Young, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Vice President for Health Affairs
Dean, College of Medicine
